I don’t know about you, but I’m so tired of hearing what not to eat; I want to hear what foods I can eat!  Certain food components are being forbidden, banned, and outlawed in news headlines on the regular. All this talk about what I need to avoid is not helpful. In fact, I find it less helpful in making positive health changes. Instead, we should be hearing about the foods that are full of nutrients and health benefits.

This article highlights five things you can always feel good about finding in your food.  No matter where the news headlines point this week or the next, you can always look to these five food components and be assured that you are fueling your body in a healthy way:

  • Protein
  • Whole and enriched refined grains
  • Unsaturated fats
  • Vitamins, minerals, and trace elements
  • Healthful components, such as probiotics, prebiotics, and flavonoids

For more information, such as the top foods that have these healthy components, check out the full article on the Eat+Run blog at U.S. News & World Report to learn more. Happy eating!
