It is often claimed that coconut oil can do amazing things for your health. From the prevention or treatment of serious diseases such as Alzheimer’s, AIDS, diabetes, and cancer, coconut oil has been reported by some to cure all that ails you. If these health claims are true, then we should start guzzling coconut oil straight from the bottle, right? Not so fast. According to nutrition research published in peer-reviewed journals, coconut oil doesn’t quite live up to the hype.
To help clarify public misperceptions, the IFIC Foundation recently published “Coconut Oil and Health,” a comprehensive look at what is (and isn’t) known about the health effects of coconut oil consumption.
